At this time I don't have a particular preference for either one, as long as Postman and Newman show the same behaviour for xmlToJson responseBody.

For both cases, can you try putting a 'console. In newman, it'll be printed to the console. If you put console. The Xml To Json library that is used actually differs for postman and newman.
Both provide access to the wrapper XmlToJson, but implement it differently. X2js seems to remove namespace-prefixes by default, while xml2json requires some configuration to achieve this behavior. I can do a merge request for the easy fix adding the required configuration attributes to the default TestResponseHandlerbut a better solution is to use the same library for both systems, I guess. However, in the next releases, we'll add an xml2Json function in both Postman and Newmanwhich will use the library that Newman uses currently, with a few config changes.

The purpose of the web service is to convert temperatures and it will demonstrate how Postman can be configured to test the accuracy of the response returned by the web service. Next, click on the Headers tab so that you can input the two required HTTP headers into your request configuration:. Now click on the Tests tab so that we can define the code that Postman will use to automatically check the response for accuracy.
Next, you will notice a commented line of code line 2 that when not commented, is helpful for viewing the generated JSON code.
Simply click on View and then Show Postman Console and you will notice that a separate window will open. This window will show the detail of each transaction you run and will also show the output of any console.
This gives us some immediate feedback that the test code successfully verified that the response contained the data we had configured for testing. In the case of more complicated web services, you could add as many tests as needed, and still be able to easily and visually determine whether all passed or quickly locate those in red that may have failed.

I've read through the Postman documentation several times over but it wasn't the most helpful in achieving my goal. What was suggested in a few blogs was to convert the XML to JSON, and then pick out the token and it's value from there, but that didn't help either. I'm stumped. We're working on developing a framework for doing data-driven Postman tests, and one of the approaches we're exploring is to dump the results from the reference query into an Environment variable in XML format, then in the tests convert that to a JSON object for easier handling. It is not namespace aware. In other words it does not make any interpretation of element's attributes or modify it in any way.
For usage details, refer xml2js documentation. While validating xml response, i am converting it in json and then adding validations in postman.
